Meet the 205: Deborah L. Stephens

 

Stephens is the founder, CEO, and chairman of Behavioral Health Systems, Inc. (BHS), in Birmingham. She was the principal founding member of the company in 1989. BHS provides managed behavioral health care services through a 17,000+ preferred provider network to over 750+ client companies, covering 750,000+ persons, with operations extending across the nation. Stephens attended the University of Iowa (Kappa Kappa Gamma alumnus), the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and the Western Institute of Healthcare Executives program at the University of California – Berkeley. She also attended private school in Dusseldorf, Germany, for three years prior to college.
