Meet the BHM 205: John Cassimus

Cassimus, a Birmingham native, played football at the University of Alabama and was a member of the 1989 SEC Championship team. In 2000, Cassimus took his mother Zoe’s concept and started the company that grew Zoe’s Kitchen into a national brand that now operates 170 restaurants and employs over 3,500 people. He is also the founder of restaurants Maki Fresh, Jinsei Sushi, and Miss Dot’s. He has a charitable foundation that, among other initiatives, provides full scholarships for underprivileged students at the University of Alabama. He is also a popular motivational speaker.
